Characteristics of the study programme

The study programme focuses on professional education in the field of teaching English language and literature. It develops students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills, mainly in the field of the knowledge and use of English language and the interpretation of literary texts from Anglophone countries, and helps acquire the competencies necessary for further study in the field. It supports experiential learning and teaches to understand the relationship between the processes of learning and teaching, education and individual’s upbringing and the dynamics of a social group. Graduates can utilize English language at a high professional level in both written and spoken form and know the basic contents of the didactics of English language and literature. They master the basic skills necessary for independent creative activity and for cooperation in solving professional projects in the field of language education, having all the prerequisites to continue in master’s level studies.

Thanks to the mastering the common teaching basis, the graduates have knowledge of the cultural and social contexts of education, they understand the basic pedagogical and psychological circumstances of education and training. The contents of the studies are structured in such a way that graduates acquire knowledge and skills in the field of pedagogical-psychological and social aspects of education in the professional-scientific and methodical dimensions of the studied subject combination, but also the ability to reflect the theoretical base into educational reality.
