The Department of English and American Studies invites you to a series of four online lectures delivered by Professor of Theology Craig A. Boyd from Saint Louis University, Missouri, USA. The lectures will take place on Tuesdays throughout October at 2:45 p.m. CET via Zoom.

In his lectures, Professor Boyd will examine the moral values in the works of British fantasy author J. R. R. Tolkien. Together with Professor Boyd, you will explore the influence of both pagan and Christian mythology and their respective value systems on Tolkien’s work, the virtues and vices represented in his writing, and, more specifically, the role played by faith, hope, wisdom, and their opposites.
The event is organised within the framework of the VEGA 1/0236/26 – Axiological Actualizations and Reconfigurations in Contemporary Mythopoetic Narratives project.
